Hi! Thank you for being interested in our poster!
We will include short video clips that vary in levels of violence between the victim and the perpetrator in our survey. At this stage, we only have story scripts based on real news. In the next step, we will include real video clips so that participants can experience the mobility and complexity of different factors in each scenario. We think it will increase the level of accuracy regarding third-party judgments. Late on, we will also do fMRI studies to explore the connectivity between different brain regions (like dmPFC and TP) that could shape people’s decision-making and perspective on the victim and the perpetrators.

You may want to look into the limited work that has been done on victim impact statements, it seems relevant to your work. You may also want to look into some of Batson’s work for measuring empathy and distress. Very interesting stuff!

Thank you for sharing your research and presenting at NEPA!
Thank you for the opportunity!
Interesting! What do you think are the next steps in this line of research?
