This is such an interesting study! Kudos to you for collecting such a large sample (I’m jealous!). I have a chicken-egg question…since neuroticism is a personality trait, do you think that being high on neuroticism leads one to perceive traumatic events in such a way that it results in negative outcomes? Or do you think that traumatic events lead people to become more ‘neurotic’? As a social psychologist, I’m always intrigued by state vs. trait (or nurture vs. nature).
