Great presentation, thank you! I couldn’t help thinking about our long history in the field of focusing on the mother. Do you think we have done a great disservice by neglecting to examine the influence of the father, or do you think the paternal role is more influential now than in the past?
Thank you for your thoughtful question. I am inclined to believe that the role of the father is more influential now than it has been, with the roles changing to accommodate for equal parenting. I am, however, under the impression that prior to the role of the father becoming more influential, their influence over their child’s mental health was most likely more prominent than was previously looked into.
