We think that even under some anxiety the stroop tasks that we chose were relatively easy. If we were to do this study again we may change the tasks to something that requires more from the working memory. We also wondered if during the task participants were distracted from the fact that they were being observed they may have been more focused on completing the task accurately and quickly. Our largest limitation was the number of participants so the power overall was low.
Super interesting. I’m surprised PASTA-state wasn’t affected — a colleague of mine teaching at another university has said that she asked students last year why they didn’t put their cameras on during Zoom classes and she got several responses indicating people were self-conscious of their appearance.
Yes, we were surprised as well based off of our experiences as students. We were wondering if our sample size was larger then maybe the results surrounding the PASTA scale would be clearer.
Really nice job including your limitations and future directions that are very insightful!
Thank you very much! Hoping to see more done on this topic in the future.
Very interesting results. Why do you think working memory was not influenced, but anxiety was?

Thanks for this informative response!
