Thank you for sharing your research and presenting at NEPA! I have thought about robots supporting many human endeavors (robot therapists), but I haven’t seen much research in this area.
Hello! You are right, there hasn’t been a lot of research in this area, there has been some exploration into socially assistive robots for children and for elderly adults. I’ve also heard of “rehabilitation” robots for sensorimotor deficits. Robot therapists are certainly a curious invention to consider too. I think as these artificial companions become more available to the public, it’s also important to understand how these isolating times of quarantine may influence human-robot relations.

Yes, you can look into PABI a penguin robot for social assistance for kids with autism. Researchers are Greg Fischer (WPI) and Laurie Dickstein-Fischer (Salem State). There is also work by Jane Li (WPI) on telepresence robots and nursing.

Thank you! I haven’t looked at any research by Jane Li yet, I’m excited to check it out
Are you attending APA’s TMS conference? It was really good last year (in DC), online this year…
I did not know about this conference! I’m happy you asked, I’m looking into it now, it looks really interesting
